Boomer said that the majority of the trucks they do with a rack, do just this. They notch it. There's another truck here now that has his notched looks good, pretty much can't even notice it. They said they don't like drilling into the frame but have done it.

I just have to say the first bulkhead did it's job. It stopped the load from going any farther. He took the time to build another one and move on down the road. How many times you see these types of loads going down the road without a bulkhead? And I m sure he wasn't worried burning up time on his elog. Taking the extra really pays off.

Grab a load of greasy bars and you will never not build a bulk head again.

True I haven't done the oily ones. Most of them need tarping so I stay away lol

Yeah, he was already frustrated, said they wouldn't let him tarp inside and winds gusting to 30 or 40 mph, and his tarps literally blew off three times...it crossed his mind not to build it.

I have very minimal flatbed experience, but I remember a load of flat steel bars, it didn't matter what you did, chokers, gut straps, belly wraps, chains, straps....those bars were gonna slide forward on a hard brake.

That's the thing, you can be having a crap day but when it comes to securement and tarping you don't cut corners. Those are the guys you see on the side of a highway fixing their tarps or redoing their securement.

    thaistick Thanks this.

Ive never hauled oiled steel. Do you put something between it and your tarps or just have to clean tarps afterward?
