$100/mo is a spit in the bucket in order to keep the harassment to an extreme minimum. I'd roll with that price tag if I was in that situation just to keep any prying eyes off the gear.
Well here it goes, tomorrow I'm going to face a judge "illegal" parking vs. hos

Rescheduled for a week.
Funny how they can get me to move my truck on Christmas Day but they don't have court on Boxing Day.
(I've really got to get a white collar job. It'd be paradise!)Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
Where did you park your truck?

Curbside, parallel parked in a residential neighborhood in two legal spaces on a dead end street. Not blocking any driveways or fire hydrants.
It's a box truck, not my usual tractor or a tractor/trailer set up. It's also one of our "any idiot can drive" C-trucks so it's underweight. Basically the only difference between it an a U-Haul is we have DOT #'s. Also since it's clearly a moving van, there is an exemption for being in a residential neighborhood that doesn't work for other commercial vehicles. Add to that my mom IS moving and my line of argument is as follows:
1.) dropped off moving supplies for customer.
2.) did not have enough hours left to take the truck somewhere else.
3.) once I was out of hours my hands were tied and I had to wait 34 hours to move the truck.
Since the cops decided to turn up the heat on Monday (threatening to impound, etc.) 34 hours had passed and I complied.
So the framing of my fight is:
1.) did I have a right to be there in the 1st place? Actually yes.
2.) why didn't I move the truck when finished? HOS forbade it.
3.) why did I leave the truck for over 24 hours? Again HOS
What the cops did was routinely drop tickets on the truck every 12 hours or so, listed as abandoned and only called the number on the side of the truck! after they figured they'd made their quota.
Will I beat all the tickets? No, but in theory I could. I'm just going to see if I can invalidate the multiple ticketing because all they really want is the $$. (and possibly shut up some obnoxious neighbor who's got the desk sargent on speed dial)Oxbow, sevenmph, hunts2much and 2 others Thank this. -
2 questions...
Are you going to lawyer up?
Can you video the proceedings?SingingWolf, spyder7723, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
Why did you have to do a 34?
After a 10 hour break I bet you would have regained enough hours to move it to a legal parking area.spyder7723 and Oxbow Thank this.
