So, what is the benefit of leasing over being a company driver? Nobody has really answered that. Just broad sweeping platitudes about "controlling your destiny." I am not going to pay some one to work 70 hours per week for them.

But, but.. I get to choose from 3 options from the planner instead of what they give me. I can also fuel anywhere I want so I don't have to fuel at Pilot! I mean that makes leasing this truck so worth it!

Yes, that was an actual statement from an l/o back when I was st Swift.

In my opinion, there is no benefit in the long run. Oh a very small percentage might make a little by working 361 days, never exceeding 55 mph, and research shopping each and everything needed for the truck.
But, make no mistake, you are a misclassified company driver.

How do you manage to handle driving through a residential area. The speed differential between you and parked cars are at least 25mph, more if you are the "5 over" type. Is it a white nuckle experience?

If you are paying attention to what's in front of you it makes things much easier. Don't just pass the guy that's going slow, look in front of them to see what's going on, maybe they are going slow for a reason.

What about RV drivers? They have paid thier dues and want to cruse around the country not in a hurry. They paid road tax too, it isn't your road, you need to expect anything and share the road with people.

If people are always in your way then the problem is you!

Apparently you can’t comprehend the statement, you just made a list of OTHER potential hazards to justify your “choice” of being a road hazard to 99% of traffic who need to pass you, especially considering passing is one of the most dangerous maneuvers on roadways..

If you’re always in people’s way then the problem is you..

Passing a slow vehicle is easy, it's doesn't take much time at all. Well, for some people it does because they like to slow down for the pass because it's "scary" or something. You know when there is a slow truck doing 50 and all of a sudden the passing lane is doing 52... Easy to blame the slow truck for it.
