I was just speaking about the opportunity available then vs now. The expansion of wealth in that era will nevet be seen again.

Turnover is high ay every company. Why someone would come to mercer from landstar? The same reason some leave Mercer and go to landstar. The grass is always greener one the other side. Truth is, we got the same customers and the same rates. 99%of the freight is the exact same.

I was at the yard Wednesday night & a truck pulling a Landstar van was circling the lot. Lol.

Truth here. I was offered a dedicated run but I turned it down. Plenty of money in it but I just like my total freedom.

Which is why I always seem to contradict what you say. I know what you're experience was like on the van side but it's not that way anymore. I only sit by choice. The van side had changed a lot over the last year.

When I was at Oakley pulling end dump I had the lowest deadhead percentage I've ever seen. They have customers everywhere and each dispatcher develops relationships with certain one's like we do with agents so different teams will run different areas.
Each dispatcher is assigned a group of trailers and is paid on percentage of revenue that the trailer generates so they are very motivated to keep you moving.
On the downside it is much harder work than you would think and you and your truck are always dirty. Also no beards allowed. But if I was going to buy a new truck and have big payments I would seriously consider going back because I know I would make enough money there.
It's easy to get lazy under self dispatch...lol

I did tanks and had 36% deadhead last year. But everything else here is the truth. Including the new truck thing haha
