It's always people thinking they're going to shortcut a way to riches. Trucking attracts a lot of those. A fool and his money are soon parted.
FoolsErrand, redoctober83, csmith1281 and 3 others Thank this. -
What was your name on 2p2?

@wichris @Woobie The whole point is that if you own the shop, you keep the profit the shop makes rather than sending that money to another person or business. This is called vertical integration, and it is done all day every day in every industry. You’re right that it might not make sense if you were only trying to service a few of your own trucks. That’s why it would be a good idea to open up shop to the public. Of course, that’s another core competency in another business line requiring investment and management. For some businesses it makes sense to integrate, for others it doesn’t.Last edited: Mar 5, 2018

It won't let me pm you?
Sounds like you have a business background. Or are you an autodidact too? What are you planning long term?boredsocial Thanks this. -
For some reason ttr disables the pm ability of brokers. They probably had a few bad ones soliciting trucks.Lepton1, double yellow and MagnumaMoose Thank this.

I was just curious. I know your job before trucking was poker. Being you were a trucking forum poster I was guessing you were on 2p2. I was wondering if I knew you. You get no credit for guessing my name on 2p2.
-
Ah, I was going to pm my 2p2 name since it is the same handle I used on most of the poker sites, but TTR won't let me. I wasn't anybody though and don't think I knew you.
I haven't posted there since black friday. I spent most of my time in the sections on books or SNGs, aside from blowing off steam in NVG... Wish I got into investing back then though, was that section even around in the 2000s?
I started with live 1/2 & then 2/5 NL. I fooled around in small stakes online STTs before getting into a groove with $20-$100 turbo 6max SNGs, especially on AP/UB. Those games were like printing money in the post-Moneymaker era...
Then the great recession hit & by 2010 it became like 4-5 regulars and 1 or 2 fish. For a math player just playing the odds & not the other players that is basically breakeven, which makes for pretty wild variance, which can make you play badly, which then turns breakeven play to negative... So for 2011 I dropped stakes and basically became a mass-tabling small stakes MTT tagfish making almost as much from rakeback as from the games.boredsocial and Lepton1 Thank this.
