Pleas tell me if I am wrong.
You only have to take a single 30 minute break. My logs department is trying to tell me you have to take one every 8 hours.

If you take your 30 minute break early in you 14 hours then odds are you’ll have to take another 30 minute break later in the day.

Log department is right. A driver today can not drive after 8 hours have elapsed since last Sleeper or Off Duty break that exceeded 30 minutes.

If you take a 30 minute break too early you would have to do another one.
Example... if you take a 30 minute break on the 5th hour and and was going to work over 13 hrs that day, then you would have to take another 30 minute break before the 13th hour.
If you waited till the 6th hour then you would only take one.
Your 8 hour clock starts when you start your clock. Going off duty or sleeper doesn' stop it unless it' a full 30 minutes break

And 30 minutes is so much more effective to rest the body than 22 or 25 or 29 minutes. :biggrin_25523:

That #### 30-minute break was a PITA. When I started my day, I generally liked to put in about two hours before breakfast. Doing so would force me to take another “milk and nappie” break before my 11 hours driving time was up.

Biggest crock of undiluted garbage in the HOS rules. Glad I’m done.

    This here.
Take it no earlier than 5.5hrs into the work day (that moves your 14 to the 8 remaining mark - 14 doesn't stop for a break, remember).
However, as said - if it's taken earlier and you expect to approach a 14hr day you'll have to take a second one.
