It amazes me with some of these answers.
I been there and done that with drivers before, the best thing is to really think hard about this question;
"If I am depressed now, how much more depressed will I be if it gets worse for me?"
Many who are actually depressed with simple stuff like being with a mentor seem to be the ones who are washing out early or actually be a danger on the road.
The road is hard living with callus and hateful people, get into a routine where you start being a problem on the road and see how fast things go down hill.
Get into an accident and kill someone because of the depression has put you into a numbing state of mind where you are just a steering wheel holding robot and life will get worst fast.
This isn't for everyone, being a failure as a truck driver is better than being one who killed a family in a minivan because you were too preoccupied with your problems.kanidana Thanks this. -
I used whiskey

I already commented once, but I haven't seen this mentioned specifically.
Some people just can't deal with being alone. Others need a lot of alone time.
I'm the latter. I hated my time in training because I am very quick to cabin fever. My first trainer was someone I would never have liked, but I forced myself to make it work, mostly. My second trainer and I got along pretty well, but I still had to get out of the truck every chance I got, to get alone time.
If you are an alone-type, once you get out of training, things will probably start looking better.
If you are a social person who actively seeks the company of others, you are likely to have issues with spending a lot of time alone. A pet may or may not help.Sirscrapntruckalot and Scvready Thank this. -
He did mention it was with his “mentor”.
That could have a lot to do with it.
They put me with a driver who had been a trainer for Knight.
That was for one day.
If there was a day two. I would have shot him.motocross25, Coover, Sirscrapntruckalot and 1 other person Thank this. -
when i get depressed it's 90% of the time because I haven't gotten enough sleep, or i haven't eaten enough, or i've been working too much, or I've been surrounded by human garbage for too long who also hate their lives and want me to hate mine too. If i can get some rest, eat some food, turn the truck off for a day, and get the F away from zombies, i realize i wasn't depressed at all. If you're on a treadmill and forget your're on a treadmill and you start to get sad, it's because you're still on a treadmill. Get off the treadmill.

My solution is plenty of sleep, vitamins and most of all my two little dogs. They cuddle me at night so I don't get touch deprived. They compell me to get exercise walking them. And above all they need me.
There is plenty of good advice in response to your question. Use what works for you and please don't fail to reach out if You feel really down. You will be surprised at how responsive people can be.IluvCATS and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
