Xanax is a benzodiazepine. I think Ativan might be too. Definitely not allowed as a commercial driver. But if they test for benzodiazepines, I’m not sure. I would just give them up.

Anxiety will go away if you start living a better life, earning a fat paycheck. What’s more important?

I just did my DOT, and they definitely do ask if you are on any medications. If you lie on it, I'm figuring the reprecussions would be pretty steep.

Driving smaller trucks and other vehicles is extremely different than driving a semi. Heck pulling a day cab and 28 ft trailer is way different than a sleepr cab and a 53 footer.

Question: I dont know much about the medication you are on. I dont know much about high anxiety cause usually I am fairly calm, but I want to present a scenerio.

You are at a small warehouse, doesnt matter where. Its midnight and raining heavily. You check in. You're told to drop you empty trailer in spot 39. You go to spot 39. Do your set up to back in. The length of your truck and trailer block the only aisle for people to get by. You got drivers on both sides honking at you. The yard dog glaring at you. Your computer in the truck is going off and you cant see in the rain to save your life. And its one of those days where your trailer will not bend the way you want.

This was my night 4 nights a week for two years. Sometimes it was snow, sometimes clear.

With your level of anxiety, are you sure you can handle that situation? Are you going to have to pop a pill first and wait for it to kick in?

Point is, take some time and really think this over. Trucking is one of the most stressful jobs out there and it requires drivers be calm, cool, and collected.

What about them? I never gave an opinion. All I did was quote the process. I'm actually closer in my opinion to saying suck it up buttercup and leave the meds at home. Just saying.

If your doctor signs off it saying it won't affect your driving you'll be ok. I know one driving prescribed fricken oxycotin! Just don't take too much

Uhhh with all respect, that’s not true. You cannot be under the influence of mind and mood altering drugs prescribed or not. There is a list of banned substances that the DOT doesn’t allow.

Careful with this. You CAN NOT legally operate a truck with this drug in your body or even have it in your body until a registered FMCSA medical examiner also signs off on it.

By the way benzodiazepines are supposed to only be used for a temporary need, such as a dental appointment. No doctor will prescribe them for daily use.

They do sometimes. For anxiety daily use 2 times a day. Usually klonopin or valium the strong stuff is different
