Just so. You will need 6 different colored markers, a straight edge, one metric and one imperial ruler, four pieces of A10 paper, a tracing tool, an easel and about a day and a half to make all the required diagrams and abstract images required to perform the equation.

And, don't worry, if you get the wrong answer, but used the right steps, it's considered correct for grading purposes. And, you will have burned enough hours screwing around with arts and crafts to be legal to drive again anyway.

    tiny ticky tack.

HA. I oughta save that one.

I usually have trouble when the local town chief is standing on my fuel tank threatening me in kindergarden words about that red light I did not see.

It's probably about control perhaps, I'll lean that way a little bit. However one day there will be a computer truck sitting there for them to plug into with no human driver in sight. I would love to be alive on that day when it comes time for THAT inspection.

I actually took a couple scraps of 5th grade common core math off you tube on notebook paper and proceeded to calculate a weekly shopping as the cart filled with food items.

You wont believe how much paper got consumed so quickly and how complex the numbers stack became. I quit. Threw that into the trash.

I'll do my math the same old tired way, even if it is not sanctioned by any educator today.

I do 24 hour time 0001 minute after midnight to 2400 it simplifies the situation when logging somewhat.

As a final fail safe, I never sign a open log for that day. To sign it means the log day is finished and actual true fact. In my time whoops let me fix that real quick officer before you start writing tickets. But those days are gone forever.

I don't think so. Yes you are on duty if that duty status is moving between lines 3 and 4. A simple move between 1 and 2 are not on duty moves. In my comment in post 23 I actually left something the officer told me out. I'm not going to get too deep into that conversation just know there are NO rules mandating changing from line 2 to line 1 once exiting the sleeper.
The above is from 395.8 and 395.24. The below is from the OFFICIAL FMCSA part 395 Regulatory Guidance section.

I am aware this says 8 hours. This because this part precedes the changes made in the HOS rules I think back in the 90s. HOWEVER this guidance is still the OFFICIAL position of the FMCSA in regard to these silly and stupid potty break comments.

My conversation with this officer was more about how officers try to trip drivers up. KEEP this in mind with the upcoming CVSA 72 hour enforcment coming. They are targeting HOS this year. If you are asked ANY QUESTIONS about how you spent your offduty time polity tell the officer you have no comment. You drivers have been warned!

Doesn't Canada have a mandatory 36 hour break once per 10 days, or something like that? If so, it makes a lot of sense for them to clearly document it.

34 hour breaks in the US are not mandatory.

I now need to add an additional comment that amplifies that guidance. There is no rule anywhere that actually says these periods have to be logged as changes. It is impossible to prove a negative. How can a rule be found for something that is so silly the FMCSA would never think about it? The FMCSA does not give a #### if you get out of your sleeper and go potty as long as you don't get in that truck and drive 100 miles to do so. Folks a little common sense goes a long way in this business.
