Well after a few problems with DMV causing a delay, I have obtained my permit, taken all of the endorsements and I started school on Monday. As I already had my permit the rest of the class went to get their permits Monday, but they started a week before me.
So far we have been doing theory in the class room and have been trying to get our heads around the pre trip inspection and cab inspection with the brake test. We should graduate June 22nd.
I will keep you posted with my progress and later transition to a carrier.
Started out on my new career.

Luck in battle!

Don’t overthink it. Pre trip is easy once you get out of your own head. Focus on your skills tests.

Choose a good outfit; don't take the first job offer. Plenty to choose from for New Jersey drivers.
Puppage Thanks this. -
You got this!
Texas_hwy_287 and Puppage Thank this. -
When I was in school my biggest problem with the pre-trip was studying for it without having the truck in front of me. So I took pictures of every part of the truck and trailer that was part of the inspection, then labeled everything on the pictures I needed to remember. I printed it out and my instructors saw it one day and made copies. Now years later when I stop by to say hello, every student is still given a copy of my pictures as a study guide. This place has been in business for 30 years and never used a study guide with pictures. I thought that was kind of odd.
Woodys and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
Best of luck to you.

You did me a list of refrigerated carriers hiring in Southern New Jersey back in February. i have applied to J&R Schugel and Magnum. Both of which have responded although it is still quite a way off until graduation, which should be June 22nd.
Tyson Foods are not hiring in this area and Trimac are not interested as the school that I am enrolled in is not on their approved list. So I am also looking elsewhere and it seems at the moment that I have more time than I planned for.
I will keep everyone posted as to my progress.
Thank you all. -
Good luck driver, you'll need it in this industry full of snakes. If you've got a good head on your shoulders and you do your due diligence in researching prospective employers, you'll do fine.

June 22 is just around the corner; best wishes!
