The camera can be remotely operated by an administrator or safety. Although they rarely would have cause to "check up on every random driver" they definitely have the ability if perhaps they suspect something. Just big brother popping in...
Inside and out facing camera turns on randomly

Because, other than placement, there are no laws governing dash cams. Companies can check in on you anytime they feel like it and set them to record whenever they want. Don't like it? Change companies.snowlauncher Thanks this.

Perfectly legal. You agreed to it the day you drove the truck knowing that tearless retina was staring you down. Deal with it or move on.

They are always "on". They save a recording when a certain "event" happens, usually 4 minutes of audio/video. 2 min prior to the "event" and 2 min after the event. There would be no way to save the 2 minutes before the "event" happened unless it was on all the time.

What company?

Trucking company manager told me that he could click on any driver, any time, and see them live. Even though the HR guy told us that a third-party has to review each special clip first.
That company removed the cams after trying them, they were uncomfortable with the privacy issues, which is one reason I hired there. -
Turn your 4 ways on to trigger the BS nanny cam and get up on the top bunk commado spead eagle. Air it all out. See how quickly they change the trigger events after a cam full of twig and berries.

You might get away with flashing your tree at them when you live in your truck, but in a daycab you might have some explaining to do before they decide to fire you.

Can’t believe there is no privacy laws against this... we had a couple guys written up for unhooking their trailer and not wearing their seatbelt while parking the tractor.... then these companies wonder why it’s hard to find a driver
-
Believe it. They get away with it because they have no problem finding suckers to drive for them. No need to make it against the law when you have the freedom to not work for such a loser company. If they couldn't find drivers due to the cameras they would be forced to remove them. Asking for laws is ridiculous. Grow a pair and leave.driverdriver and yzar78 Thank this.
