So I showed up to good customer of ours and load won't be ready til tomorrow. How much should I charge them?
Don't start saying 1000+ cause nobody gets that, unless you're super trucker.
What is reasonable rate?
Its good customer of ours and we will do business with again so don't want to burn bridges here.
Load is not ready please come back tomorrow

$50 a day?, $100 a day? $200 a day??
how much fuel did you burn up, getting there?
if you pay yourself a salary, how much per day would you have made on your salary alone?
this had actually happened to me, but i was back then a company driver. i got $10 per hour for 8 hours (they used break down pay) for the day, plus mileage which was say x number of miles, x's 30¢ each mile. (way back in the good ole days)
i think i got about $125.00
i didn't care, it was easy money to take. -
I’m super trucker.... it’s happened to me 2x this year..., one time I was gonna leave and told agent nevermind I don’t want to do it... I got $1200 that time.
And just last month I was given $900 for waiting from 9am Wednesday til 11am Thursday to load....nax, gekko1323, Cam Roberts and 10 others Thank this. -
If you don't make them pay they will keep doing it.
otterinthewater, DSK333, gekko1323 and 22 others Thank this. -
That's right, only super truckers get good money for truck order not used. So don't be a super trucker, just go home and come back or wait there for a day for free. It's not like they depend on someone to provide on-time delivery and accurate service, so why get paid at all? Just do it for free, take one for the team. Don't be a super trucker.

We get $325 day for layover with a van. And Landstar takes 35% of that.
Some agents will give us max detention instead. We get 100% of detention.
The most I've gotten is $425 & $350 and both of those were like 10 hours.
Done several where they top at $250 cash a day.
Like you said, it's a ####ty situation, but it's a good customer. -
100 125 is ok for company driver but o/o gotta make more than that
Anyways it was 30 miles from delivery this morning so minimum deadhead. I told my boss to ask $450. Dispatcher called later saying I was asking too much $500- my boss must've added another $50 for "technical assistance" lol
Later dispatcher calls saying you got your wish they agreed to pay $500 and started saying how its great pay. Then I started arguing with him that I can grab another load from here in Kansas, its not dead area in Denver or Albuquerque where System would send driver to haul 1.00/mile load just to get out. -
From behind a desk the world is simple.
86scotty, Gearjammin' Penguin, TequilaSunrise and 3 others Thank this. -
You guys won't like what I charge, and you won't believe what I get for a Tonu.
I work all this out before with the customer so there is no misunderstanding, each customer is different but overall it is a days worth of revenue.ZVar, Mattflat362, dustinbrock and 3 others Thank this. -
I got $700 last time it happened and I wasn't happy about it. Got to be a day's revenue.
Tb0n3 Thanks this.
