He won't like me but thats the ''new breed'' fantasy and ''illusion''...LOOK AT THE NUMBERS I POSTED WITH OWNING A TRUCK...and that was only a 300.00 a month payment.Thats a cheap truck....

I am old school and i look at the bottom line. The new school look at ''living in comfort''...''lap of luxery''lmao

I ask this...Are you buying a profitable business or a studio apt to hang out in for the homeless?

    take your pick....

This is the ''new breed'' mentality...IT REALL SCARES ME....LOL

I am not picking but its a business quest. The truck is a tool.Thats it,a tool..

1POd, anything in particular that makes this truck such a steal? You gotta know there's a million of them out there, and I'm sure there's many you know about as well. Is this really a spectacular find? I would trust you so I'm interested in what you have to say. Thanks.

What about you old timers, all this world of experience and still buying squares to drive, like we never learned anything about phsyics in the last few hundred years. No thanks man. There's absolutely nothing wrong with preferring clean, and these cabs are standard now anyway. There's just beat up ones and factory intact ones. I don't think you should buy a condo to drive a flat if that's what you're referring to.

However, $300 a MONTH sounds promising.

See the method to the madness is to have you in a new truck to keep your payment high...why?

it keeps you hungry and moving and most of all ''dependent'' on the company. Therefore the company has you hooked in by the balls.

with a paid truck you are so free to make many more choices.thats why landstar is #### good....freedom,home time, your business....come and go as you please...no pressure and no doctorship

I am refering to the fact is when you start a business you do what everyone before does...

Buy a starter truck at 5-10 grand and work the business up from there. This is ''standard'' business rule for drivers..This started 50 years ago to do this, then trade up.

You dont just go out and buy a ''fancy'' large car to look kool in...

ITS A BUSINESS NOT A HARLEY JOY RIDE...LOL

DO THE MATH OF REALITY OF TRUCKING:biggrin_25526:
you are right about the cost per mile..it is at least 2.00 a mile to run a business....why do people try to challange that fact.?????

Here is one of my trips bt.....this is a weekly trip i did....1.50 ALL MILES TO THE TRUCK

    2,600 X 1.50 = 3,900 (GROSS)-SO FAR

    3,000 (actual miles) = 3,000/5.5 = 545 gallons used

    545gallons x 2.40 (avg) = $1,309 for fuel

loads payed are not (actual miles)--here is where the screwing starts...lol

loads payed computer miles which = 2,600 miles x 1.50 (avg) = $3,900 to the truck

    deadhead for the week was 500 miles / 8.0 MPG = $62.50

    3,900 x 35%(landstar cut) = 2,535.00

    2,535.00 - (fuel) 1,309 - 62.50 = 1,163.50

gross to the truck is $1,163.50

    deductions on a weekly basis..

    work comp = 32.00
    bobtail ins = 20.00
    physical damage =11.00
    comdata use = 12.00
    pre pass = 2.70
    cell phone= 20.00
    computer fee = 20.00
    tolls were at = 38.00
    fuel tax = 40.00
    truck maintanence = .10 a mile x 3000 MILES = $300.00
    truck payment = 300.00
    794.00

    gross to truck = $1,163.50
    deductions = 794.00

    net pay was 368.80 / 6 DAYS OUT = 61.46 DAY
