Pick up a load in the middle of the hills in VT... road was kinda narrow and curvy to get there... and then.... to leave, I took a little narrow road going west to NY... VT9 and then NY7... they are very curvy up and down... 8% inclines and declines...
Is anybody here familiar with that road..?
Gosh.. tell me about it... Going up at times had to put in 3rd gear... and pray that I would get to the top...
And going down... well.... not as bad but still...
It was raining... and I am heavy... and this Freightliner is not all that strong...
It's a beautiful road... in a motorcycle maybe....
The closest truck stop with scale was in Albany, NY.... does anybody know that Plaza 23 in Albany?
Well... from I787 took the exit that GPS told me... BTW, 2 GPSs and each one giving me a different route... And I missed the street... well.. it would be impossible to turn on that street anyway...So... I went further and turned left on NY32... which was a little wider... however... still....
With vehicles parked on both sides and vehicles at the light eager to move as soon as their light turned green... I had to again... stop the traffic and start to move in super slow motion... and folks started pulling to the curb to give me room...
HAHAHA...
In later days I would be scared... but nowadays I"m getting used to going to places where no trucks go.... and it can be "funny" sometimes...
Anyway... I made it to the truck stop with no scratches... And my weight was FINE!!!!
GREAT! Cause it would be REALLY bad if I had to go back 88 miles on those narrow curvy up and down roads in the hills back to the shipper to rearrange the load...4mer trucker, chopper103in, BigBob410 and 2 others Thank this.
