Ok, so a quick update. I have completed my four and a half weeks orientation and tank training and tomorrow I go to pick up mu assigned truck. i asked my manager if there was an inverter as I intend to stay out for three weeks at a time, and the response was no.
How do you guys manage over the road without being able to stock up on fresh produce without a fridge? I don't want to rely on truck stop food but cant think of a way round it.

Tell the manager you’ll be going to his house for supper.
When I worked as an employee I had local jobs, so I could eat at home.
When I went over the road, it’s always been my own trucks. And I install my own inverter.
2,500 watt pure sine wave, runs anything I want.

    Aamcotrans and SingingWolf Thank this.

Apples, oranges, pears don't need a fridge.

A bag of ice in a big cooler will keep anything for 2 days, then you need a new bag.

I have an inverter, and still use my cooler and ice. It will even keep milk. I keep sour cream and butter, and take a 5 pound bag of potatoes and nuke a potato at the truck stops or shippers and receivers.

Buy 40 bags of ice and you've paid for a fridge. Whats the point?

A “Truckfridge” is expensive but runs off of 12 volt voltage. No investor required.
Most all companies will not provide you with an invertor or a fridge,

Ozark gives everyone a 1500w inverter. It runs my fridge no problem. Heck it runs my 1100w microwave, TV, fridge, laptop and gaming computer no problem.

What does your fridge do when the truck is off?

    Bag of ice is $2.50.

Think 4 truck batteries right around $800.

It runs off the inverter. We have APU's that run and keep the batteries charged. But it draws so little it would take days to draw down 4 big old batteries.

On home time I take all the food in it back to the house, clean it out real good and leave the doors open so it can dry out. I turn it off.
