7 Points for not switching to SB after Off Duty

    The only time I log sleeper is if I'm splitting. I've had my logs inspected and even emailed them out with zero issues. If I'm off duty I'm OFF duty.

    Sometimes it's best to beg forgiveness for not having any log at all to inspect and take a minor (Relatively) hit rather than to be crucified for a much more severe offense.

    I suppose the ELD took even that away.

    He could have. Before the inspection. Once he handed the ELD to the officer it's too late. That's why several of us keep saying that SB and Off-Duty are two different duty status and need to be treated as such. This is just a driver being lazy and not paying attention.

    People can and do get tickets for false logs both for showing off-duty all night with no motel around (motel receipt, story of stayed at the city mistresses's house, tent, whatever), or showing a 34 full time in the SB.

    Officers will not be able to get the chicken crap of form and manor violations with ELD's so they need a new low hanging fruit. SB/Off-Duty is it.

    I dunno if I agree with this in regards to no Driving. Running a double shift in the warehouse is not uncommon. Should I be restricted what I do on private property? On the shared, public road sure. The HOS could be tweaked yes, but the concept is fine. So Limit driving time, even base it off On-duty time is fine. But keep On-duty like it is and not limited.

    As for SB/Off duty, simply allow off duty splitting and combine the two.

    Thats pretty harsh but i expect to see more and more of this kind of stuff now. Theyve never really been picky about sb vs off duty but theyre legally different duty statuses.

    Please flag @Moose1958 into this thread, he and I have gone round and round about this subject but he put me on ignore. I'm also patiently waiting for the answer the DOT gave him after he asked them about this very question.

    All states enforce this equally because it is in the green book. Anything in the green book is enforceable regardless of whichever loud mouthed authoritative big fat belly'd truck stop lunch counter lawyer-on-the-side trucker has said.
