    OP, where's the damage?

You didn't take off the mirror, did you?

I would have given the guy $5 and told him to get a can of paint, it wasn't even worth the wasted time on the side of the road.

When I became certified as a Supertrucker. Definition: Swift backed into me at a truck stop.
A very nice, experienced driver came over to help. He very calmly told Swift: Don’t worry. The more trucks you hit. The better you get. :)

DAC has been a weaponized system against those who rub stuff with big trucks once too many times. The company then makes sure that the driver's DAC is destroyed and thus that driver has literally no prospect for hiring.

A workaround was down here is to run for small operations with a dumptruck or something where no one cares about the DAC, if they know about it at all.

To keep one from destroying the curtain, or whatever it's called, around the door that keps rain from pouring into the dock what a trailer is there.
Sorry, but hitting that is simply very poor driving. If nothing else he should have looked when opening the doors. Gotta wonder how many tires he goes through for lack of paying attention at the docks.

Aren't most curtains foam blocks covered in vinyl? Which, upon review, this one was.

The curtain is, but what the curtain is attached to is not.

I am baffled by how different reactions are to a driver's "incident". Sometimes everyone goes for the jugular and then other times everyone is like "oh, that's nothing. Just a little scratch. Life goes on. Blah blah blah".
Y'all are not consistent at all.

Interesting that you title your thread "first incident". I'm sure you didn't mean it that way but it sounds like you plan on having many many more. "Had my first and last incident today" invokes a confident mental focus to never have any other incidents in the future.
