To understand whether motorkote works or not is to understand the molecular structure of steel in your engine and what oil actually does. The makeup of steel looks like a steel wool under a microscope, and the oil smooths out the edges reducing friction. There is a substance out there called bluekote that is actually a powder that is negatively charged and sticks to the edges by magnetivity. If motorkote includes this substances as claimed in the name, it would actually reduce friction more than oil which is why its recommended to put on bearings and wheel seals to increase mpg. Now with additives like honey like lucas oil, it is used to stick to the cams so when you shut engine off, the oil just just run into the pan. Basically, starting up the engine in the morning isnt as hard on motor because there is more oil sticking to the moving parts. That being said, ive never used it myself, but you can youtube the blucoat stuff and see small engines running without oil.

You revive an old thread for that, that was really your only contribution?

He probably meant to say 1 quart in car engine, not semi.

Motorkote is great! Lucas doesn’t hold a candle to it. Just keep in mind anything you add motorkote to make sure it’s broke in before you add it or you’ll have problems down the road (rings won’t set right, tranny will always be stiff, rear ends will be tight always) all of that requires at least 80,000+ miles to really break in so don’t add it to a new truck right away. Like i said it’s great stuff i even use it on my ratchet binders in the spray can. Best thing you can do is CALL MOTORKOTE! They’re great guys and are extremely helpful. They’ll tell you exactly what i just did plus some. Also make sure you stick to recommended amounts because there is a method to that madness and actual research done to prove why. So,adding to much and to soon CAN hurt you but if done properly it’s beneficial.

Motorcotes been around a long time. Started in Garage by a Guy in Michigan. I remember his video displays advertising in the local Truckstops. Same thing running a lawn mower engine without oil. I forgot all about it until recently I see it’s gone Bigtime selling everywhere. Have had at least 3 people in the last year swear by it. One O/O claims he drove hundreds of mile w/o oil. Don’t know how that’s possible. But old guy swore it was true.Ive used Lucas in my old Detroit mainly as insurance against bull gear and valvetrain failure and helps a bit with blow by. Been using it for about 5 yrs now, I can’t honestly say if it works or not. After hearing so many high mileage stories over 20 some years. ( oldtimers used to swear by it). I bought the cool aid. 1.3 mil on OH. Survived an injector dumping 10 gal of diesel couple yrs ago. I’ll stick with it, at least for now. I’ll say no sludge ever found when replacing injectors and oil pan gasket. None at all. I change delvac @ 20 k w/ 1 gal Lucas. Add 1 Lucas and 2 oil between. It’s wore out but still ticking

    Ah, that brings back memories.

I used that when I was in high school on my mom's car.
    Didn't do much.

I have also used water injection with a methanol mixture, with better results.
Not for lubrication, but for power.

Have any of you even heard of water injection?

Yeah. It’s a big deal for forced induction guys pulling, and racing. I was going to do a Devils Own kit on a truck I had once, but sold it instead.

I don’t buy into the oil additive thing. If you’re running good oil, changing it at the right intervals, and not overheating things then you’ll never have sludge. Sludge is from neglect.

I worried about sludge from Lucas. By the looks of exterior leaks it globs up pretty good. Tried the Lucas stop Leak, it really globs up, actually stopped rear main leak for a few mos. when it first started leaking. My brother in law used slick 50 and changed oil ( free from work) every 2k mi. on old 460 Ford and got 300k + miles out of it. But what got my attention was when he got 300 k doing the same out of a Chevette 4 banger.Made me wonder. I tried a bunch in my old 92 425 Cat trying to increase mpg.Bad idea. All I got was a leaking rear main. Quickly changed oil and it went away. Lol
