Mine is a 14 t680 with the cummins isx. Mhc does not change the oil in the engines. Yes they will let you take it to another shop to have them look it over. Some small things I found is they try to hide ####. For example they passed a truck without working wipers? They also paint the frame n under the truck. This sucks because it can hide small air leaks like a airbag. Problem I found is the sales guys will try to say no need for that 3rd party inspection. But push back. Also make them fix everything you find and get a oil sample!
The only issue you might have is if you find a truck you want. They need $1,000 to hold it. They do not have to refund that $$$. Mine refunded mine though.

Thanks for the update and should there be any thing else to look for? I don't mind the deposit as long as it is refundable.
I drove a 17 t680 but I did vans then. Did you have to get the 5th wheel moved back for flat or is it alright the way it is?

This truck has a smaller Wheelbase then my last one. With the under ground exhaust i can slide the headache rack all the way up and have more room then my last truck. If you take it to another shop. Ask them to do a force Regen on it. I Didn't do this on mine and my first regen it poped a code for a sensor. The sensor is a $400 sensor but has a core only reason i haven't changed it. Wiggle some wires and get under the truck with soapy water and spray the bottom of the airbags. If the truck has over 400k im gonna bet its getting Close to need air bags from the dry rot on the bottom.
I Had them work in a DPF clean on mine. When they send u a ECM print out look for the DPF pressure if it has a high pressure ask them to clean it.
The Main thing is a oil sample and put it on the Dyno. Oil sample cost about $30 DYNO is about 300.
RigDig the TRUCK also. I was looking at a truck in dallas till i found out it was involved in a jackknife and MHC didn't list that.
