Man climbing that hill on 84 east in New York right past the Port Jervis exit was a challenge last night. At one point I was in 6th gear. Lead trailer was almost 20k lbs and kite was 18k lbs. Too much weight for my more than 1 million mile Volvo.
Mike2633 Thanks this. -
I also ran a million mile truck -
Yup, I feel like anything with less than a million is pretty fresh, used to ragged KW fleet cabs with wiring dreadlocks hanging down and 79.x loads on western mountain grades.
I look at what the FxF guys drive, wouldn't know how to act. Are they allowed to pick their nose in those things? Is there a butler arm that pops out of the dash to serve cordials and canapes?
Not all them have new ones. I call Prescott The Valley of the Sterlings because I see so many there. Some big name LTL's too. The land that time and fleet management forgot.
Mike2633 Thanks this. -
I think two empty pups will scale empty somewhere around 35k or so.
-
Our rule of thumb was to not load more than 1k of freight per foot of trailer space to scale legal on both gross and axle. -
Mike2633 and road_runner Thank this.

If we are going into Rocky Mt doubles being pulled by a twin screw, you can haul a substantial amount of weight depending on your states permit. -
road_runner, Mike2633 and speedyk Thank this.
