The only good thing I have to say about Roehl Transportation is that they do pay good for the miles you run. They have Dry Van, Refrigerated, Pneumatic, Flat Bed, Step Deck, and Curtain side trailers.

If anyone is about to begin their driving career, give Roehl a call.

    Need4Speed and KF7WTV Thank this.

Currently looking at options for a new gig. Not much interested in general freight on straight flats in the Chicago area and that's where I've always seen Roehl.

You mentioned step deck and pneumatic trailers at Roehl. Do you have any direct experience with those fleets?

Do you know where the pneuies and steps are based out of?

So, did I miss the whole point of that?

Roehl sucks now? Is that what you are saying?

I can't tell if you're being a jerk because you think I'm an idiot, or I'm just an idiot.

I was asking about Roehl because I'm not informed at all. And, I don't spend much time online and I don't know where else to ask about this.

    Are they an awful employer?

I've been told there were opportunities to haul OD and step deck. But, I haven't found anyone except a young driver with a bad attitude hauling a Thomas Train.

Sorry, I was asking here because I thought I could find out more information.

Know if that's a possibility? I'm almost 60 years old and I appreciate "stupid things" like health insurance. I already know I won't get paid fairly.

If they paid great there would be no reason for sign on bonuses, recruiters on here, or a cdl school.

I'm asking about step deck and pneumatic work. Do you know anything about that side of their business? Is it an ongoing contract? Should I just move past Roehl and find other work?
You're being somewhat rude. I don't know anything about them beyond this. I'm just asking questions here.

Not trying to be rude. Sorry if I did.
Save your self and do a search on roehl on this forum search bar. Probably one of the top 5 flatbed companies with issues.

Try great lakes heavy haul, lone star transportation, central Oregon truck co, Hillis bros, or ATS. No company may be perfect but these have a much better rep and run open deck;)

Thanks for that. I've never heard of Central Oregon or Hillis Bros. I'll call them and report how the covo goes.

The rest, I could probably laugh at you for even recommending them, but I won't. You didn't know, you just talk about them.

That sounded snarky and it wasn't supposed to. Sorry.

    IMHO...
Roehl flatbed was my very 1st trucking job out of CDL school in Sep, 2012. Like got my CDL on Friday, was in Gary IN on Monday.

I loved it. always something different. You'll be based out of Gary IN or Phoenix AZ. Did it for just over a year. Whether you had a straight flat, step or lowboy just depends on what you end up hooking to. My biggest complaint was swapping trailers several times a week, sometimes. Not that I minded drop & hook, but you always inherit whatever problems the last driver didnt bother dealing with! Only reason I left was to go Central Oregon TC for a bit more miles & pay.

Most recent job was dedicated intermodal from Oakland to Reno NV. (I lived in Reno.)

Anyway, I had a good dispatcher at Roehl who at least acted like she cared. I believe she did. Always encouraging and helping me to achieve just a little bit more. Not every dispatcher is like that. I understand it's hit & miss. Not much to do about that.

So lemme know if you want more. maybe dm me. FWIW I'm considering going back, but only dry van or curtainside. I'm too old and wise to be dealing with slinging 80 pound tarps around.
