I've only been at this job since Feb, and it's my only job with bids, so take my opinion for what it is....
I don't think I would like lifetime bids at all. Where we are it's once a year, or 10 route changes. Seems to me to work well enough. That way if one is at a dock and have a personality conflict, at worst a year is all one will be there.Gearjammin' Penguin and Mike2633 Thank this. -

Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this.

How do people do p&d/foodservice in places like Florida and anywhere balls hot?! This 90 degree weather in Ohio is killing me, but at least we get a break from it.
road_runner and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
Yeah, I almost quit trucking altogether over that experience. I don't know how those guys do those kinds of jobs down South.road_runner and Mike2633 Thank this. -
However it knocks the humidity down. Usually I just sweat all day long, but by Friday I'm pretty much running on adrenaline. Today it was 89 however it was not humid so the load didn't fall over and the trailer was able to keep up.
The best and worst trailers are in my experience the old Thermo King Super II's. With the trailer doors closed those trailers will have ice and snow blowing around in about 5 minutes, but open the doors and leave that thing running ekkkkk it'll run like a banchy, but it'll suck in every ounce of hot air out there. The newer second generation Thermo Kings seem to do a little better in the heat and don't suck in hot air like older first generation Super King II's.
Our company has gone both ways with the refer one minute it's "Oh Thermo King, says to leave that thing running all the time."
Then next quarter it's "Nope turn those things off when you're at a stop, with the doors open all they do, is suck in hot air."
It's been both ways all the time and our trailers some of them you open the doors and the refer fires up, others you open the door and the refer turns off. Anymore I play it by ear and it depends how I feel.
Actually if you have a trailer with good curtains the trailer will hold cold air pretty good, but the trick is getting a trailer with good curtains.
As far as running down the ramp and into stops I just kind of tough it out, my tractor has pretty good A/C so I'm good on that LOL!Gearjammin' Penguin, Shaggy, NightWind and 1 other person Thank this. -

Funny story.... The guy they hired to replace me lasted a full three weeks. I hadn't even left the state yet when I heard he got fed up with the working conditions.
