How come LTL companies don't use electric pallet jacks. I know it would take more room in the trailer, and you can't do any of that monkey business like having a customer take your jack out then put it back in the trailer - but you'd think the efficiency would pay off almost immediately

I've wondered that same thing. Must be a cost and damage thing or something.

R&L out of wilmington uses them. I see their drivers with liftgate trailers with them all the time.

That's not how it works.... Last time I went there they gave me a door with the dock that looked like this

By the time their lumpers cleared the dock it was time for me to take lunch biggrin_upper.gif

Then this guy was aiming for the exit door . He couldn't back even if his life was depending on it halloween_vampire.gif

I may need to find another line of work. Or win the lottery.

For the first time in years, I took a real vacation with my awesome wife and a couple who've become our BFF's. We spent a week in New Orleans, eating awesome food, seeing amazing stuff and so on...

...and all I could think about, whenever we stepped out of the hotel, was the logistics of delivering to this or that location. I eyeballed every delivery truck, the loading zones, the surrounding traffic, the docks--I'm ruined for life.

Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be P&D drivers. :(

My wife hates that I square turns in her Prius. She just won't shut up if I drive straight before doing a u-turn.

I saw a Central Transport truck Friday pulling a lift gate trailer well it was an old GLS Lease Co trailer and it had the big gate style lift gate
    [IMG]
Which is not common for LTL work at all, but this one had the full blown food service lift gate on it. It was all beat and awful looking too.

But Central Transport always marches to the beat of there own drum.

No way I could be seen driving a Prius, even if it belonged to somebody else.
