Walmart DCs expect to see a seal if it is noted on the bills. Security does 2 things. They check and record reefer temps and notate seals. Most times walmart will unload you without a seal. However if something is missing the carrier is going to eat the loss.

I believe the securement checks are something they ask quite frequently on the cdl test. The instructor probably wants you to remember that.
I guess if YOU seal the trailer without documentation you could break it anytime you want. It would be a hassle breaking the seal and noting it on your paperwork. I’ve never had a load shift on me. I guess if it did and I could feel it I would check the load. If the shipper sealed it call dispatch before you break the seal.
Schools basic function is to get you to pass the tests. You will learn good info and info you’ll probably never use.
Number 1 rule CYA! That’s not on the test. -
Absolutely you are going to see questions from part 393.100 on to the end of that section. However I am going to state this a clearly as I know how. YES a driver is responsible for cargo securement in a sealed load, just as that driver is responsible for everything on that truck. This is NOT a myth, the DOT can and have broken seals to check this. HOWEVER every single case of this happening I know of either one of these 2 things has happened. 1 Liquid is leaking out of that trailer and you are in a scale or have a DOT car behind you on the road. 2 you have smarted off to that cop and that cop is about to show you just what they can do. Otherwise generally the DOT are not going to bother you about securement in a sealed van. It is a pain in the butt for them just as it is for you. There is another myth on this issue I won't get involved in, but I will say this, make sure you keep plenty of seals with you!
