    I dont doubt grocer warehouses can be bad, but ive picked up at a few of them and have always been in and out within about 2 hours. Ive seen one in Dallas, always 20-30 trucks backed up parked everywhere along the curb, always a mess. I can see that one taking a while. Lol

    Generally speaking:

    1. Arrive on time.
    2. Sign in.
    3. Be assigned a dock or drop location.
    4. Load/unload or drop and find new trailer.
    5. Sign out & leave site.

    Every customer has their own rules. Ask what they are when you sign in.

    In 3 years hauling reefer, I have lumped one load, and did it for free.

    I had a choice. Wait 4 hours to unload 5000 lbs of several types of cheeses, or do it myself.

    I had someplace to do, so I threw on a windbreaker and gloves and knocked it out.

    If you are young and fit, lumping a load might not be a terrible idea, but you better be sure your company will pay you for it, and that what they are willing to pay is worth the time.

    In my experience, it seems as if the entire lumper industry revolves around finding the least legally accountable way to hire illegal aliens to do work cheaper, depressing warehouse wages nationwide.

    I load my trailer for pick ups during the week. Its hard But not too bad. Takes about an hour per pick up and I get 30 for each. Winter is harder. Being outside in the cold, then getting into a freezer just sucks. It makes it feel colder. And humidity ices the floor and makes it snow on the inside. One of my codrivers thought the "fridger" as he called it was broken because it was snowing. Lol

    I worked for a tire company and the driver would sometimes roll out to us warehouse employees. And they were full trailers, bottom to top. Was it his responsibility to help? idk but I always felt bad for him. Didn't think it should be his part to unload the trailer, he did his job and got the product there.

    well if you are worried about being able to handle the job go to a pilot or loves and you will soon see even a moron can do this job
