My old Garmin was 10yrs old and needed to be replaced.
I needed a new dash cam also, so I rolled the dice and purchased the 785dezlcam.
This thing has been nothing but trouble.

    $500
Right out of the box I had to do a software update.
I still haven't been able to get my favorites transferred over from my old Garmin to the new one. I did EXACTLY what I was supposed to do.
Did it with the CSR on the phone with me. It said transfer complete.
    Nope.. not there.

But, that's not the worst of it.
I turn it off at night so it doesn't burn an image into the screen from still shots.
Every day it will reboot and go black.. I'll have to prompt everything again.. four or five times.
Garmin had me update the software AGAIN.
    Didn't help.
So now, they're sending me another one and I'm sending mine to them.
    But it's not that easy.
I had to send mine first.. and do without for about a month with the way my schedule works... OR, pay $350 and they send one first, I send mine back, and they credit me when they get mine in 10-14 days.
    That's $350 !
I asked why they couldn't just hold my card info as insurance against failure to return.. that I would understand.
    Nope. Gotta have the cash.

I have the money. It's the principle.

What ya wanna bet the new one has the exact same issues?

You’ve had it 6 months. Send it in for a warranty claim. Garmin is 12 months.

End of story. Unless you just want to spend the next 6 months complaining until it expires. Then you can start an entirely new thread.

I think you missed the point. And you're not the first one. The issue is with Garmin software at their office. They have the same issue, and they can't explain why it's happening. They are refusing to do anything about it on the 580. They will make sure that all new models after the 580 don't experience this issue. I'm sorry if my English wasn't plain enough

I contacted Garmin about the issue, their customer service told me to just deal with it it's not going to change. I would have to buy a brand new Garmin to fix it. Is that clear enough now?

No! You’re missing the point. It has a manufactured defect. Covered under 99% of all warranties issued in the world.

It comes with a 12 month warranty. You’ve had it for 6 months. It’s defective. Simply box it up, send it in. They’ll replace it, or give you credit toward a new one.

You don’t have to go into detail with whoever answers the phone in the returns department. Just tell them it doesn’t work, and you don’t know why. You don’t even have to mention your previous phone conversations. Just box it up, with proof of purchase. And return it.

But you go right ahead and buy a new one without trying to return that one. They love people who do that. It keeps the profits up.

Okay do me a favor Chief. Put on some thicker reading glasses, take a few fresh deep breaths and read the email image I added on the OP. Specifically the quote stating
That the issue will not be resolved for Garmin Dezl 580's as they are no longer doing software maintenance with this model, you dimwitt. That means and I'm going to repeat myself but i don't know why since you seem terrible at reading comprehension. It is not a warranty issue since their system is showing the same problems. THEY ARE REFUSING TO FIX THE SOFTWARE ISSUE ON THEIR END. THEY HAVE DEEMED THE ISSUE OF NON-IMPORTANCE AND DECIDED TO LEAVE IT THIS WAY ON THIS MODEL AS OF NOW.

So in short dumb dumb. They grab a 580dezl and it does the same thing, I spent more than 2 hours on the phone with Garmin tech support to find out EVERY ####ING 580 HAS THIS ISSUE and instead of doing software maintenance to fix it

    THEY
    ARE
    LEAVING
    IT ALONE.

No warranty, because it's not a one off issue.

Do you.. understand... the words... written here... this time? Or can I just write you off?

I mean sweet merciful god. Do I need neon signs to explain things to people.

I put this post up here not to hear.myself ##### but to maybe get some people warned about a Garmin problem they won't fix, I know some people see it that way, but here I sit arguing with someone who simply can't read. I mean Jesus come on? Is it that hard to sit down take a minute and read their official statement on the issue, draw a conclusion from that?

This is a big reason why I don't talk to truckers anymore at truckstops, you can lay all the facts you want out in front of them and if it doesn't match what they think, or how they did something it simply can't be that way.

Tried to bring up a Garmin problem with a compelling thread title, and end up having to argue with someone who can't read the Original post.

    Only in North 'Murica
