I think I understand what you mean, but to discount an entire industry as a place to become wealthy is just plain wrong.

Your statement may be correct about most drivers or owner ops, it is certainly not a correct statement about every driver or owner op. In the job climate we are in today even someone with very limited experience can get a roughly $100,000 a year job with an LTL carrier or similar company. Those who do not live beyond their means and over many years invest a reasonable percentage of their income in good mutual funds in their 401k, can easily become a millionaire many years before normal retirement age. A millionaire is not what it once was, but it is very possible to have several million by normal retirement age. No one is going to hand it to them and it will take having a long term vision of 30 or more years, but it is very possible. We do live in a microwave society and many people don’t have the long term vision, but not all of us are like that.

I also know several small to medium fleet owners who started 30-40 years ago as a one truck owner op. If you think some of these people aren’t multi millionaires you better think again. Yes some fleet owners may be up to their eyeballs in debt, but not the ones I am speaking of.

I drive about 340-350 miles a night 4 nights a week(Every other night ) home every morning and I deliver milk to Walmart’s. I gross about 65-70. It’s overnights and the schedule is weird but I get benefits 401k and the pay is alright. Now I am sure there are guys in the oil fields who make a lot more than that and I’d love to give it a try but I live no where near any oil fields lol.

Exactly right. I know a few of those guys. They don't look rich and they don't act rich and most of them are still involved in trucking.
They made their bucks by hard work, smart thinking, and working their butt off.
They might complain occasionally but you never hear them whine.
