That should be completely unacceptable to you. A huge expense that you have to take their word for? Sure, no problem.

I agree that it seems odd that there isn't more detail in the settlements.

However, if i start keeping receipts, i can compare them to settlement statements and see what discounts i am receiving.

That said, I will be calling them tomorrow and asking if i can get more detail on fuel purchases. If they will do the work for me, it will save me two minutes a week.

    Huge expense
    Correction:
    Biggest expense!
And easiest to minimize with some data before hand........

So if you have some numbers for price per gallon per state... others can compare here, sort of, with the prices they pay in the same state...

Need some numbers if you want to accurately compare. Or if you do not want to know discounted fuel prices some on nastc or other cards here are getting ... that's your business I guess.
Trying to help... a bit frustrating. Need numbers!

Yes, it's the biggest expense for a true O/O, no doubt about it. But with these shady L/P deals who the hell knows exactly what they're paying for what. This whole story is at once amusing and sickening. OP claims to have excellent credit, no debt load and money in the bank and yet he hopped on a L/P with a company that has him bent over the table and he seems blissfully unaware of what's about to happen next. Can't even accurately track fuel costs...Jesus.

This is WHY I asked him way back up in the thread to provide numbers in reference to his comment early on that Crete's corporate discount on fuel is most likely better than any independent owner can get.

Now appears he has and had no way to substantiate that claim.

This thread is a clear example of what it means to "fly by the seat of your pants!" :)

Does crete let the o/o take on trainees? Could be nice for the extra money to pick a few up every now and then

There's the answer. Take on a complete rookie to use for his clock. Man, I'm getting a headache.

You know what though? If he got one of those new 3 bunk trucks and add 2 trainees, he could haul Crete's freight for $0.75 a mile plus fsc and make a mint!

Not too mention, talk about all the additional owner operator on the job experience he'd gain!
