i work (for the past 9 years now) a dedicated account, and i get paid a weekly salary, no matter how many hours i work. needless to say, i hustle to get home quicker, rather than stay out all night.

salaried jobs can be found, but if you think that you're gonna get to work the same hours each day or night, you're in for a shock. when it snows up here, i can be out an extra 2 to 4 hours, all for the same pay.

i'd be careful of any "guaranteed weekly pay", especially when things slow down, and you sit at a truck stop for hours on end.

they will make you drive empty for a load, where you might have to sit some more.

Yep, that’s pretty much how salary works anywhere. In my previous career of 15 years I had a yearly salary and was paid once a month. Some weeks I worked 40 hours, some weeks I worked 70-80 hours. Same pay either way.

You got that right! Payday was last working day of the month whatever day that fell on M-F. To be honest though I liked being paid that way, always knew exactly how much I would make that month.

Paid all my monthly bills the day I got paid and budgeted the rest for groceries, gas, etc. for the rest of the month. Amazes me some folks can’t go a week without getting paid.

I guess some can’t fathom that. Actually, I’m surprised more companies don’t pay bi-weekly/monthly. Weekly payroll is an expensive business cost.

My current company pays every two weeks which I misunderstood when I hired on as bi-weekly (oops). I’m paid every other week for the two weeks prior. So if you start at the beginning of a two week payroll, it’s takes a month before you get your first pay check.

You cant beat hourly pay. You work, you get paid. I drive so relaxed now. Sit in traffic? Gladly. 4 hours to unload? Take your time. Work Saturday for OT? You bet. I'm thrilled. Least I have made is $20 an hour.
