the DD-15 standard interval to change oil is 50K miles. On my N-14 I changed oil every two or three years "whether it needed it or not". Ran a bypass system with oil analysis every 20K. Oil does not wear out, it's job is (1) lubrication & cooling and (2) carry fine particles away, which can then be filtered out by the micron level filtration of a bypass system. Standard full-flow filters are really about worthless for filtration.

If the TBN is going up then the additives are being deleted. I had an oil drain valve installed, then when I would be down a gallon I would drain an additional gallon and then add two. So there were always enough additives. After 1.4 million miles I was using a gallon every 8K, not too bad I think, never rebuilt, only one head gasket leak as far as engine issues, and two injectors. I babied it and it paid off in the long run. Don't have but three years now with the DD-15 so not enough to say how it will do.

These New Fontaine trailers almost dont have a "rub rail" ALmost like it has holes built into trailer for straps and chains to go through... Kind of different...

I just picked up this trailer from a guy who's broke down... Started here 2 weeks ago, this is his second load and hes been sitting at this shop for a week, talk about bad luck... According to him they still dont know what's wrong with the truck??? Hes been sleeping in the truck. I think I'd be finding another shop, when I picked up the trailer his truck was parked out in the shops trailer drop area... Kinda odd. I would think it should be in the shop being worked on or something.... 20190305_155015.jpg

Yep, my DD15 said 50k mile service intervals also. Personally, I'm not doing it. The oil gets too dirty and too abused by the emissions engines. To each their own.

Oil itself never wear out unless it turns into sludge. The additives do get depleted which is what it needs to be changed so often. I'm sure oil is more advanced than it was in the 90s when I dealt with it but I still don't see any benefit to synthetic oil or extended drain intervals. Oil is cheap, my engine is not. Once again, to each their own, just my thoughts on it.

800 x 525 equals 420,000.00 dollar's for the omnitrac equipment, plus 800 more paying 45.00 per month for service! Nice chunk of change for Mercer, what do you think?

I don't think they will be paying mercer directly unless you know something different

I doubt mercer makes much off it. The units are 800 if not bought from mercer and service starts at 38 a month for independents.

They’re selling the units at cost or close to. I bought mine from my last carrier in 2017 for $835

Mercer isn't making money off it. If they wanted to make money off their contractors your insurance wouldn't be as cheap and the fuel discount would only be half what you get now.
