This is the same pass, like 2 weeks earlier, when it got nailed the first time.
But this is solid ice.
The pictures from the tutorial, the ice and snow were so deep, there was no vibration from the chains LOL.

It has mostly worked. I have only had to stop and wait out chain requirements once in a bit over 3 years, for a bit over an hour total. I used most of that time to run a manual regen anyway.lual and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -

I broke two cross chains the last time out, and now I'm beginning to wonder what is the life expectancy of chains, until you throw them in the recycle bin, and just start with new ones.

I'm just spitballing, but in 2017 we bought two sets of cheap chains and one pair of good chains. None in 2018, and we replaced one of those last week due to ripping it up trying to climb over a hump coming out of an iced up dock.
Based on that and the number of times we chained up, for cheap chains, I'm going to say about 150 miles. tops. The mid grade square link chains probably triple that.Farmerbob1 and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
