No. That's not "alright" that would be exceptional. I don't think anyone pulling a van at Mercer is doing 200k a year unless they are never going home. The Midwest is where the money is and you could get home often, not exactly sure on what schedule, and you could make some decent money but you're not going to get home that much and make that kind of money. I'm not sure you're gonna make that much money pulling a van while trying to get home that much regardless of who's name is on your truck unless you're pulling Specialized freight.

I'm seriously considering switching to flat, I'm in the process of moving my family, and buying some property in Indiana, which means my binge work/binge off time will cease. I'm looking to be home more like you are considering...is it possible with van, yeah maybe but not at the revenue you're describing. The van short runs/regional are not as strong as the flat side....so you either get sucked out to the South or West chasing the revenue or you run for a lot cheaper.

Your in my neck of the woods. Definitely a great area for Mercer. We load out of Crawfordsville. We load a lot more out of Pittsboro. I could be wrong but I dont think Pittsboro even loads stepdecks... I would definitely go flat over step for where your located if you decided to come here. They run a good amount of roofing loads out of Plainfield/Indy during the season that have dedicated drivers... Although JB hunt has moved Into that shipper so not sure how that will go this year. Lots of stuff out of Gary area.

@Boneheaded i saw ur other post about wanting to do Vehicles and not really tarp.. Mercer doesn't have that much Vehicle loads from what i've seen. Tarping is what it is. You live in IN quite a bit will be tarped out of that area. Making 200k a YEAR its possible but going home a lot won't happen. With this year rates looking to be down from last year it diffidently won't happen

Anyone know a GOOD gps tracker i can install in a truck? I'm looking for one that can be hidden so a driver can't just cut it out...

ELD can give position reports. Are you putting a driver in a truck and already don't trust him?

ELD's can also be disabled by removing 2 screws and unplugging them. Looking for something that's better then that
