    Exactly right.

    The two biggest mistakes at Mercer
    1) wait until empty to start looking for the next load, call ahead to destination agent once dispatched.
    2) not developing good relationships with agents.

    I think that's because in orientation they teach to use the board not call agents.

    True story.

    I had a couple agents that would look for loads for me if I was stuck. They can use the public boards.

    Yes. That is the way to get a load off a load board if you are stuck. No different than any of the other loads offered us every day by outside brokers and 3PL's.

    I figured the freight offerings for Van would be better here than flat out west.

    Grabbed a decent load back in to TN. Get to grab me a 34 and burn the tires back to TN lol

    Generally van freight sucks out west.

    Oh gosh. You were in a black hole. Those loads look good going out but it's hard to make money round trip. Best I did out of WA was $1.10 a mile to Texas that weighed 1500 lbs. Only reason I took it was because it was like getting paid to dead head.

    The one I took is paying 1.43 after dh. Its heavy but puts me 2 hours from Louisville lol
