I had an employer once who was always giving me the business about using straps to secure what was just "going a couple miles down the road".
I don't work for them, anymore. There is no such thing as too much, on open deck. Or, in a van with HM.

They’re the ones that usually won’t bother with pulling a permit to move an excavator for the same reason.

People like that deserve to go out of business.

We've done it that way since 1982. What's the problem? :p

They was old school. All the way. Typical lumber yard. Good people to work for. But not so much on the safety and security. Part of it was my fault too. I was too young to know any better. As I wised up and asked questions. I learned to ignore their jibs and just secured it to MY liking.

I just now witnessed a flatbedder attempt to pull out of a loading area fully loaded with his landing gear all the way down. Heard a grinding screeching noise, jumped up to look out my window in time to see him coming to an abrupt stop. I’m next in line, and he’s in my spot. As soon as he got out of the way they’d start loading me, but he’s been sitting there in his truck not doing anything for half an hour. A little karma.

probably too embarrassed to get out of his truck. He knows what happened. And doesn't want to get out and fix it.

    cke and Gumper Thank this.

Strap in the middle is nearly half cut, strap at the back is chewed up as well. I let him know about the one in the middle and he responds " I know I'm not worried about it"

That's why I normally mind my business... Who cares if that crate falls off the back of his lease truck right... Straps are $9... inexcusable. 20190405_164559.jpg
