Two things buddy (maybe three things, we'll see)
First of all, just get a better job - you maintained a good record ....rrrrriiiiiiiggghhhht?
Second, yer still a rookie and have not been at this long enough to put things in perspective, know when it's in yer best interest to compromise, and to maintain a zen-like equanimity when an office person is being unreasonable. Don't feel attacked by that - it took me about 5 years to attain my current level of sage-like wisdom.
My radio doesn't work properly but who needs radio in this day and age? and if there is a chunk out of a trailer tire, it is vanishingly unlikely to cause you, personally, a problem. Admit it, you were STANDING ON PRINCIPAL which is often not admired by the person who must bear the cost of your high principal.

You got to learn to get along a little better even when the other person seems to be rather inconsiderate. This is hard to do (it sure was for me) when you are new, either as a driver or as an employee, when we feel we are being punked and don't yet have the experience to know which issues to let go and which to fight for.

I have come to know that it matters waaaaaayyy more what I do than what others do - that is a really good principle. I feel yer pain - really, I do - and so have tried to say something helpful. There are lots of companies paying over 60cpm now with the miles to go with it and good benefits - go get what you are worth and make darn sure you are worth it.

First off, yes I did maintain a good record. Second I'm not standing on principal, if the tire isn't legal I ain't driving it, bc I'm not going to get that ticket.... even if there's only a 10% chance I'll get an inspection I'm not taking that chance if I k ow for a fact it's not legal, such as wire showing or less than required tread depth. I'm more than willing to wheel it over to a shop if they'll replace it. I'm not unwilling to help. And third, While I was still working here, I was on the good side of all the dm's. As I often bought them food in a bribery attempt and had ongoing running jokes about many things. I still keep in contact with my old dm. And fourth, I didn't stand on principal on the radio, I asked the shop to get it fixed as the truck only had 7,000 miles on it all of which I had put on it. They readily agreed and got it fixed under warranty at no cost to company. It took 3 hours due to slow communication with radio manufacturer. (Idk if you can stay awake 8-10 hours in silence, but I can't and won't!) Wen I'm tired I need music in order to stay alert and awake. Ur special powers are yours alone. And it doesn't make me a newbie if I need my radio to work. And as it was covered under warranty there was no cost incurred. And on the tires "that's the cost of buisness" they shouldnt use super singles which are double the cost if they aren't going to take care of them. I don't need more than 18 months in the industry to be able to sum up a companies problems effectively. I #### sure will make sure I'm paid what I deserve as that's the whole point in trucking. As far as ur general tone of speaking down to me I resent that as I am simply stating the issues I had, and reasons for leaving. I only ever had issues with the manager above the DMs.

Bottom line if you don't have the freight and the miles for the driver's u currently have, stop hiring as it'll only cause u problems. As stated b4 I was more than willing to put up with the BS if I was getting consistent mileage above 2100-2300 per week being out 2-3 months at a time. However I wasn't getting that so it was time to move on. Im not offended. Just shocked at how they would treat a former driver for them who left on good terms and did everything reasonably possible to make them money and arrived on time Everytime if not early.
I'm not here for your opinion on how I should behave or what to do next, I'm simply stating why I think schugel is a bad company and warning future drivers who do research and find this post to stay far away, And never believe the recruiters if they tell u u'll get a $15,000 bonus.

    That's it and that's all.
At 18 months I don't necessarily think I could get hired at 0.60cpm otr and still get the miles I want. I'll be ok with a 0.50cpm range. I'm currently at Smith transport getting ready for orientation Monday.

Thanks for your concern but is not needed and unwelcome sir.

    Have a great day
    Rye,
    OTR Truck Driver

. I ran my hours everyday, never had a late load, never had an accident, all I asked was that they get me the miles regardless of where they needed me to go. Told them I'm ok to.go anywhere u need me but I wouldn't tolerate any less than 2100 miles a week as an otr driver I have a hard time believing that this is an unreasonable request considering my performance and time away from home.

No OTR driver should settle for less then 2500 miles per week ever And a decent company will have you running 2800 or better per week. Especially if your not choosey about where you run.
If your gonna deal with the mountain of OTR BS you should be looking at an avg of 8hrs per day of revenue from your time on the road. 2100 is like 5.5hrs of work per day.

I agree 100%. I’m a local driver and I run 2000 miles a week. I don’t get paid by the mile, but making the point that 2000 miles shouldn’t be hard for anyone.

Then my opinion is equally valid, and my opinion is I don't need his opinion on his excellence and superior knowledge nor do I wish to be spoken down to.
If u take issue with this then that's ur own problem, not u nor anyone else regardless of status or whatever will talk down to me as of my lived experience means nothing bc they are somehow all knowing or better than me.

That being said I do appreciate that you have rules allowing anyone to comment. But an unproductive comment deserves to be met with a reply pointing out it's uselessness.

I stand by what I said. His belittling is neither wanted not needed, and he can post what he wants, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it.

    So yeah.

Do what you will with that, it's your perogative but I'm no (you bleeped out something I had already bleeped?) ***** and I don't let people speak to me in such a way regardless of who they are or what authority they hold over me. Respect is a 2 way street. I don't give respect unless I get respect.

I'm sure you can understand where I'm coming from!

(It's not profanity if 3 letters are replaced with a *, I fail to see the point in censoring a word that's only got 2 readable letters out of the 5 it would have?)

We're trying to help you here. Just because you don't agree with the suggestions you're getting and the manner in which they're presented doesn't mean that you're being attacked personally.
Dial it down a notch, okay? Or don't, your choice entirely.

Reefer isn’t nearly as much live load and unload as it it used to be. Just depends on the company.

I was at May Trucking until a year ago (lucked into great local gig). I averaged 2900 miles a week and did far more D&H than live.

I’m not recommending May, just stating my personal experience. I got on fine there, but I lived close to the Pensacola terminal and had a great DM and terminal manager.
