I seem to have a lot of trouble getting home time. Any advice?

    I've been driving OTR for a year. My home time locations keep getting changed to the wrong state/city from what I input, and I'm often home 2 to 6 days late from the date I request. Since they're forced dispatch I argue with them but they still give me the loads heading in the exact opposite direction of where I need to be. I typically stay out on the road for 2-5 weeks at a time and can't even hold a simple dentist appointment at home without having to reschedule.

    I don't know if someone's intentionally screwing with me or there's some other problem, but I ditched my old dispatcher months ago and it's still happening.

    All I can think of doing is sending extra HT requests everyday a week prior, and perhaps an extra freeform informing them of what state/city it's supposed to be in. :violent1:

    Love this idea! But... my driving record sucks. I've had 4 at fault accidents within a 5 year period.
    - Rear ended someone in a personal vehicle back in 2016 (I know)
    - Dinged my tractor roof on the corner of an awning while making a very tight turn
    - Ripped glad hands after getting distracted (I know)
    - Clipped a low hanging wire in long island

    None of them resulted in a citation or bodily injury, but a lot of the good companies won't even consider me.

    That's exactly what I would do. I'd tell them as soon as I knew, 2 weeks out, 1 week out, then if I didnt have a load scheduled already, everyday until I did.

    That used to happen to me at Swift. I put in for home time a week before I actually wanted to be there. It worked most times.

    Well, I've also told them I was "going home TONIGHT. You've known for 3 weeks when I wanted to be home. I have 4 hours left on my break. I'm taking a nap, when I wake up I'm heading home with or without a load." They promised me they would get me home those three weeks and I was ignoring their messsges for loads going the other way the day before. So I guess they figured out I wasnt playing when I took my nap because when I woke up they magically had found me a load that didnt exist when we were on the phone.

    Yeah, I mean I've previously been sending a home time request 2 to 5 weeks in advance and I always confirm the date with my dispatcher a full week prior, but they always find a way to 'forget' it exists by routing me in the wrong direction and then telling me there's no loads going to the north east from where I'm at.

    I quote company policy from the HR book chapter and verse and then I say to the dispatcher what part of going home don't you understand?

    If I have to do it empty I will. Any loads going any other direction is refused with a simple no followed by what part of going home don't you understand?

    Escalate to Operations Manager. MAKE SURE that you have previously had So and so confirm it a week or two prior for this date at that date and time. AND in writing via qualcomm.

    Repeat as necessary provided you have rightfully earned your home time.

    These two are significant:
    *Rear ended someone in a personal vehicle back in 2016 (I know)
    *Dinged my tractor roof on the corner of an awning while making a very tight turn
    These two below shouldn't even be on a DAC report:
    - Ripped glad hands after getting distracted (I know)
    - Clipped a low hanging wire in long island
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    So, looks like you have one accident and one incident.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I ripped down electrical wires three times and three times the police said the wires were not at coded/legal heights and wrote citations to the owners of the property.
    One property owner was a church.
    The other two were to the cities.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    How much experience do you have and where is your location?
