There were a few folks on the fb group page back in December who actually asked people to donate to their GoFundMe page to help them out in slow times..there many who were disgusted by it..

If you thinks are so bad at Mercer, why do you hang around? You complain constantly. Why would you stay where you are so miserable?

Owned trucks for 20 years before coming to mercer, as well as having my own authority and a fleet.

And that has nothing to do with profit, I know plenty of people that have owned trucks for 10-20 years and barely scrape by, not what I would consider profitable. I guess the 'new guys' must all be unprofitable? At what level of experience does one break even, then when do they start to make a profit?

I'm not miserable at all and complain very rarely. Mercer is still a very good company even arguably the bestn but to pretend they are perfect and don't have problems does no one any good.

Fuel is definitely cheap these days. I’m at the Petro in Oak Grove,MO and it’s a beautiful 70° with a good breeze and it’s an idle fest all over this lot. Thought it was just the trucks by me but took a walk to the Walgreens to grab a few things and I’d say at least half the lot is running the big engine

My point is a guy that just bought his first truck is more likely to have equipment issues. Just like a guy that's never pulled opendeck before us more likely to have securement issues. Obviously not every new truck owner will run into problems but it IS more likely.

Why do finance companies require more from first time buyers than folks that have successfully paid off trucks before?

Edit: years ago mercer required you to not only have a good license but also a few years of owning a truck. They also didn't provide you a trailer or securement. And they had a much better safety record.
