I don't believe that no way. I have had 3406, and 6nz c-15 now. Never get that kind of mpg. Except once. Put well over 400,000 miles on 3406 and now at 350,000 on the 6nz. I run close to 80,000 lbs 50% of the time. I have always been a person that keeps real close track of fuel mileage. I'm talk'in on paper. Write miles down when fueing and divide. The best I ever got was a run from Cleveland, Ohio to East St. Louis, IL. Lite UPS pup trailer down and b-tailed back. Got 7.4mpg. Normal running by my speedo figures out to 5.5 to 6. Mayby a 6.2. Thats filing my IFTA. Best mpg for me was a series 60 11.1 pulling freight van. 6 to 7 mpg. But low on power, they were rated at 350 hp. Or close to that. Never drove a larger 60 series. Old mechanical cummins get less. 5 to mayby 5.5 depending on weight. I might add I run easy. No hammer down for me. My goal is not how fast I get there.

One more thing. I like any engine that gets going every day. Don't throw check engine light. Spends very little time in the hospital. Don't use oil. ( at least excessive use). Lasts at least 800 to 1 mil. miles. Have been know to keep my trucks awhile.

    My list

    1) cat.. being king of the mountain doesn’t win mpg and doesn’t make it cheap to work on but Let’s be honest, we all want to be king and it’s worth it

2)n14 Cummins.. great motor, cheap enough to fix if you didn’t do it at Cummins.. wasn’t king of the mountain but wasn’t that far behind.. good mpg if drove right..

3)Detroit s60.. 12.7 was good on fuel and cheap to fix.. didn’t win any races.. the 14l was thirsty and had a few issues, but would flat out pull

4)Volvo 12 great mpg and will run FOREVER properly maintained.. stay in the slow lane up tho..
