Fuel efficiency matters more when you have a high mileage business model. The less miles you run the less that mpg difference is. I run 50k miles a year, if that. Losing out on 1 mpg is more than a fair trade is for the lower maintenance costs of an older non emissions non bs overt engineered integration.
Taking the plunge. My journey as an O/O.

They aren't that hard to find. I see them every day. Also an 07 is an emissions era truck, an old high mileage emissions engine is definately a recipe for an expensive headache.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Dinosaurs don't stick around forever. And there's less today then 5 years ago.
And emissions hasn't been a problem with my truck. It's everything else.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Yes I run about 50k a year as well and might stay in the truck 2 nights a week if that during the winter time (vail pass can be a pain at times but you will 2mpg or home all time. I will give up the mpg to be home in bed with the wife

As a person who entered car ownership age at about the time when US manufacturers were building horrendous fuel injection systems in passenger cars, I remember the teething pains of an industry adopting new technology.
With any luck, by the time I get around to buying a new truck, the industry will have finished most of the teething pains for DEF systems.
It is my understanding that this has largely happened already, though there are still lingering issues.
Serious considerations of a new truck are some time off though. -
Mufactures will never get the kinks out. With ever changing technology.
Hybrid electrics are coming out now. England already has them. -
Why would you build something that does not break down? You gotta build stuff what breaks, make more parts and keep the economy going.
Nowadays when I think about a brand new car, I think about leasing, not buying (except maybe Toyota/Lexus products). That new BMW is sure nice as hell, but I am not keeping it past the warranty period. The same is with new trucks, everyone trades them at 500k miles.KB3MMX, Farmerbob1, dwells40 and 3 others Thank this. -
As I get older in age. I'm thinking about the leasing idea. Cheaper payments, Warranty, and soon I won't have anyone to help tow my car home when it breaks down.
I bought my most recent car with the intentions of it being the last car I ever owned but I'm not liking the low ground clearance, practically have to crawl out of the car just to get out. And I'm wishing I had some trunk space. More along the lines of an suv.
Now if I can just find a way to lease a Harley instead of financing.KB3MMX, Farmerbob1 and Scooter Jones Thank this. -
I bought it new and know everything about how the truck has been treated and serviced. It would be nice to squeeze another 3 years out of it at that point, we shall seeI'm actually at the point where seeing daylight, and being on the other side of upside down, looks pretty good LOL.
