Yeah, the grass always looks greener over there, you'd be a fool to leave the job you have. 120 days off a year, I never took that much time off, and I was a regional driver. Trade what you have for O/O? I don't know where to start?![]()

10/4, everybody! I don’t currently get 120 days off per year, I’m just assuming that I would take that many days off if I were an O/O staying out 3 weeks, taking 1 off.
I do love my current job. I hope to eventually run 600 miles a day, out-and-back, so to be home daily and off weekends. With that being said, I’d like to make the most money one could make, while not sacrificing too much time away from my family.
Thanks for all the input. This sounds like an open and shut case to me. Linehaul LTL is where I shall remain.
Be safe out there, y’all.PE_T, Opendeckin, BigHossVolvo and 3 others Thank this. -
I think you have a good thing. Seriously
cjbrents Thanks this. -
If you want more home time, just ask to do switches or pull doubles? (just an idea).
Also, 2019/2020 is going to be rough as hell for O/O's, so now is definitely not the time. IMHO.cjbrents Thanks this. -
104 days, 2 days per week available immediately.
Additional 7 days after 1 year, paid vacation.
Additional 7 days after 2 years, paid vacation.
With 2 years, you can still make $100-120k fairly easy with 118 days off per year.
I actually do pull doubles 99% of the time.
I hope that clears up some of the confusion on the hometime.
Thanks again for the input. I was seeing all these big numbered salaries, and then I started seeing what people were having to put in just to stay operational. I’m glad I asked the question now.BigHossVolvo Thanks this. -

I personally prefer o/o myself yes you handle more money but at the end of a few years if you bought a good truck your payment goes away and you use the same amount to put away in a maintenance account and hopefully not use much heck the truck I drive most days I bought 5 years ago for 50k and is now worth about 80k and I can count on 1 hand how many times it has been to the shop for work and was able to pay cash this year for a new lowboy and a 2nd truck that I have for backup or just to haul my toys around but what you make is all up to your willingness to work and do what most won't do and take the road less traveled
Midwest Trucker and cjbrents Thank this. -

That looks great! I’d love to haul that stuff, but not for anything less than what I’m getting paid as an LTL Driver. Shoot! HH is more physical than this, and more stress.
BigHossVolvo and Ridlingdj Thank this.
