Mostly parking or tools/parts for the truck. Once a year or so ilI'get something special like a dash cam, new radio/antenna or a new gps.

Food is paid by the $100 a week I advance, have a cooler full of survival food keeps costs down.

I would think using points for anything that can be considered a business expense may be a bad idea. :dontknow:

I used to scale my loads with my points and then turn the scale tickets in for reimbursement cash. I pull a tank on a dedicated route and haven’t been on a scale in six years and I’ve heard they have an app for that now. Nowadays I stock my fridge and buy the occasional electronic item for my truck. Much cheaper to stock the fridge with items from the grocery store but I’m only out for three nights a week anymore and don’t really want to shuttle the perishables from home to work so I just use my points on the road.

The smartest way to use points is whatever your opinion is. I am sure everyone has a different opinion based on their individual needs.
I use Loves exclusively when possible.
For me, I save my points. I buy less than 1000 gallons a month so most of my months is only two points per gal. On an occasional month I'll get 3 points per gal. Currently, I have about $375 in points. I've had upwards toward $600 in points.
I've bought a TV, CB radio, antenna's, dash cam, 12v/120v converters etc. Sometimes, I'll buy cheaper stuff like a couple of those little blankets for my dogs at home, I just bought a couple of phone chargers & adapters for my wife recently.
Seldom do I ever buy food like roller dogs, candy, etc. Most of the time, I just pay for those items & get the points. Personally, I save my points for larger, more expensive items.
As for showers, those don't come out of your points .... usually. Cause you get shower credits additionally. That's separate. But, if I was out over night, I'd use my shower credits if I had them. If not, I'd use my points. I would not pay for showers if I had an option.

But, in the end, its just what I do.... its what works for me. Smart??? I don't know but its what I think works for me.

I save mine up for T shirts from other states for my wife and daughters. They like wearing them, and I score some points with the family.
