You can tidy up your outlet using a breezeway screen with some aluminum flashing cut to fit, zip ties and some flex seal spray.

That’s an outboard motor tank with a fancy stainless steel cap for the generator. Keeps system sealed so no need for an extra fuel pump, still vented also. It would not be hard or expensive to make a similar one for 25% of that price.

I used it last night. Most of the time the AC was off and the generator just idled. It ran out of fuel sometime in the early morning. I Had it running since 7pm, at 7 pm thr AC ran the whole time and the gen was running middle hard.

I bought a 7" fan to push the cold air into the sleeper.

Put an exhaust pipe on it or you're going to gas yourself and your neighbors. Trust me.

Those A/C units are probably like microwaves in that they require a much higher voltage just for the initial startup. I have an 1800w inverter, and I remember years ago trying to run a microwave with about 1200w, and it wouldn’t power up. Even when I got it to run, it eventually turned off. I use a 700w microwave in my truck.

My unit leaked water everywhere. Even though it was supposed to be a self evaporating system. It uses a sprayer to mist water onto the coil. High humidity it was useless. Also needs to be kept level. It gets full and shuts off. I used it while running down the road. Had to occasionally tilt it, spilling water out of the full bucket to get it to restart. It was a mess but better than nothing. Lol. I never really figured out proper drain set up. There’s 2 hoses 1 crimped. Hopefully yours will work well for you, or maybe set it up to drain if needed.

There’s a thread on here called rooftop ac or apu? One example has a mini split unit for $800. 12000 btu which is overkill but same as most apus have. It’s basically a small residential central air unit. Nice set up.Id like to find a smaller one, So I can save as much fuel as possible with generator. That little 2000 is economical, I tried to run a 10000btu portable but had to return it and get the 8000 btu.
