when I retired a few weeks ago, I went the following Monday (my last day was when I got home the past Saturday), I could not get to my DMV fast enough, to turn in my CDL...

i see allot of drivers complaining they are only making 40K or less OTR, im driving local milk tanker. i work allot but i will be 60K plus this year, easily. you can make money in this industry but you have to 1. find your niche. 2. be willing to work

Fuelinmyveins, OLDSKOOLERnWV, JonJon78 and 1 other person Thank this. -
TMC seems to turn out pretty good hands. Tidy tarp jobs and nice equipment.
Talked to a bloke today that had a blue truck. Said I ain't seen no blue TMC trucks. Said he was so happy as a company hand, he bought his own rig and hired on.
He was the 1 out of 20 hauling a load out of Texas today. For what $ I didn't ask - His truck hauling a company trailer at 73% I thought was reasonable.
My 2c.
Good luck.PoleCrusher, Tug Toy and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
why would you want to drive again
buddyd157 Thanks this. -
I just felt like posting that. -
i'll bet dollars to doughnuts, they will in the future, but in the end, i really did not want to continually go thru DOT physicals, and the hazmat bullcrap (if i did not drop that endorsement).
i feel VERY comfortable knowing now, that i can walk into any AAA office (as a member) and get my ordinary drivers license renewed with out the long wait in lines, at the DMV, CDL section. and the ordinary driver's license is WAYYYY CHEAPER than any state's CDL will ever be...we are cash cows to the states.
My CDL expired on my birthday, which is in a winter month, that plus, the DMV is jammed that time of the year.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Try Decker Truck Line. Seriously, a good company, but do your own research. They don't have a training course but uses the local community College. Ask what path you should take.... Good luck
