You know not for nothing guys I'm old school. I'm the guy that's gonna let you over on the big road when a 4 wheeler is sticking it to you. I'm the guy thats gonna jump out of my truck to help you back into a spot when struggling when your dead tired and can't see straight. Everybody is against us. All we have is each other out here. I still look at this as a brother hood. I middle finger the rules. I remember when trucking was trucking!!! We used to Bbq in the truck stop and collect $20 from each driver and eat and laugh all night in the back of the truck stop. It was fun...

I agree he had to do something.... But when it comes down to it... Some SOB DoT officer could make a huge deal about it and also him with a ticket for the violation.
Come December when EVERYONE that is currently on AOBRD has to switch to true ELD this kind of thing will become alot more common. And that is goimg to suck... Cause I often run my time down to 1 min as I hit the off ramp, go Off Duty, then continue into the truck stop to find parking.
And the biggest thing I hate about that stupid ELD is the #### 5 mph threshold requirement... That is absurdly slow even to crawl around a TS... Wish they would have made that 10 mph. I jave tried the whole 5mph thing while lookimg for parking... Its asinine! Hell ever 8 mph is bearable... And no one is going to try to go anywhere out on the road at 10 mph... If you were to roll around Iowa 80 at 5 mph looking for parking it would take you nearly 30 mins to traverse the entire parking lot!!!! -
Once the wheels move you are considered driving, unless you set the brakes and shut the engine off before it shows on the log.
With mine it will bump over to the drive line if I pass a certain MPH (pretty sure it is 16 in my case), or have gone a certain distance at any speed.
If I am in a very large facility I make sure to stop and reset everything fairly often, else it will show drive time for everything and no on duty time for the drop and hook.
Be sure to set the brakes when you shut off the engine, or it may not reset the timer. -
Take the violation, move the truck, call compliance in the morning and get on with life.
The point is there there is way too many people making up rules that they want that is not legal. Offer advice sure, but never say something is legal when it's not. Just, as in this case, say it's not a big deal.spyder7723, gokiddogo and gentleroger Thank this. -

We need another Jimmy Hoffa. That's what we need because this FMCSA is walking all over us like we're a bunch of skirts!!!

If it's non-hazmat, you might not even get any contact at all, if it is your first time violation, and a minor one.
The worst scenario I can think of is that you might get signed up for a safety or HOS class and have to spend some time at the terminal to complete the class.
One minor HOS time violation is pretty much meaningless. -
I think I would rather have the FMCSA rules imposed than employers and drivers running things however they want.MIT, spyder7723 and Farmerbob1 Thank this.
