Just wondering if you can apply to places and tell them you will be starting school at a certain time?

Anyone out there done this and if so, how did it go?

Happens all the time. Try to have an approximate school start date or school graduation date if you can.
Job offers will be contingent on successfully completing school and having any required endorsements.

Yes, it’s the way it should be done.. Waiting until afterwards is risky.. Simple things like gaps in your work history don’t fit the mold of some mega carriers..

Why is a gap in work history such a big think in the truck driving industry?
What if you just wanted to take a few months off?

A few months off would be amazing and I would if I got the ax at my job and got severance plus unemployment.

To answer your question yes, there are actual companies sometimes send a person to these schools even to find drivers, there are some that pay decent from oil field but its not just driving sometimes keep in mind oil field may want you do more then just haul stuff like Halliburton, I have nothing against them I have relatives who work there as a operations manager of some kind he love it while other hate it it depends what your qualified to do how much you move up or who you become friends with in the company. Like everything some times it's who you know how you move up through a company. I recommend get good with boss maybe he can get you into a door away from trucking I had several relatives, friends have that happen.
