I got laid over in Spokane once and called in on my ten. They told me they had nothing loaded out yet but to come in anyway. They made me P&D for three hours.

So that was the beginning of your shift that day? I guess that isn’t too hateful, as opposed to getting hit with it at the last minute when you’re dog tired.

They knew I was only doing a 6 hour straight shot to my home terminal. The other big factor is all the barns involved are not union. Like my current barn with Holland is union and it strictly says in the contract that linehaul can not take away work from P&D and vice versa.

But yes, Reddaway could legitimately make me do P&D or shuttle trailers that were dropped at the Idaho/Washington state line (Washington does not allow entry of rocky doubles or triples).

Oh no sir. Plenty of time did I come back after a very long trip and my supervisor met me in the yard. Told me after I was done putting all my trailers away to hook to an empty 48 ft and do a pickup. Sometimes I sat there two or more hours waiting to get loaded.

But it wasn't as bad as sorting and segregating a trailer.
