No seriously... 20 foot crated roll-up garage door that ran the length of my trailer. His first words were "where is your forklift?"

...To whom I would say “call Joe Schmo’s towing and have them send a rollback”. ;)

That was my first thought... But I was told I had a mandatory TL pickup in that trailer afterwards and if valued my job, I would uncrate it and unload it by hand if it came down to it.

No, I am not joking, and yes, I called in a favour from a friendly customer to borrow his forklift and unload it to a rented trailer.

    It was a long day.

I had 6 heavy skids of roofing materials to an outfit in Show Low. Soft wet dirt ground, and no forklift.

A roofing company with no forklift.

    "You always bring one!"

No, ma'am, I've worked for FXF for years, and I assure you that we do not bring forklifts anywhere.

    "Yes you do!"

No, we certainly dont(you daft bint).

(After I about sprain a testicle hauling all that crap off)

"Oh, it's Sidewinder that brings a forklift!" *giggle*

(Yes, a flatbed company that is totally almost exactly like FXF. I can see where she got confused...! )

It's also impressive how much flatbed freight makes it on to our trailers.

    well lemme tell you

it's impressive how much van freight gets onto my flatbed

do you know what straps and chains do to a pallet (or not)of cardboard boxes of some thing or another?

smash them suckers flat until they stop moving

PUT THAT CRAP ON A VAN.

I even do that sometimes. "can you take this box?"

IT'S A FLAT BED. not a pick up truck.

Lol, there’s a Home Depot load I did out of LV to Den. You have to tarp it in 100 degree weather in LV cause you can only snug the boxes with the strap cause the tighter you tighten the load the more you crush the boxes. Kinda like bags of onion loads out of Idaho/Oregon on the border over there. You’ll see bags of onions here and there on i84. I’ll see a bags all the way on 80 in Wyoming. You can only snug em down so every flatbed loads loses acouple bags on the interstate. They go on flats cause they have to breath. They actually heat up also under the tarp so you’ll have to roll up the bottom so they can breath. Onions are fun.lol.

They pull Central Transport trailers here in Ohio a lot. LTL excess linehaul loads must be a side gig for them.
