AN Webber

Whenever I look at Indeed AN Weber is looking for drivers. They are the first or one of the first to contact me through Indeed. That tells me they are always in need of drivers. Not that surprising giving their a trucking company. But when they keep saying many of their drivers stick around for 10 or more years. Then why are they always looking for them all the time? I talked to a guy from there last year and couldn’t say for sure if I could get regional or OTR. That was the end of my conversation with him. I guess it all depends on your expectations and what you actually get or can tolerate.

 

Where are you from? I could probably tell you if they'll put you regional or not.

I got a call the other day from the guy who recruited me. .44 otr, .47 regional, $1000 sign on bonus.

Someone at my current company said that they're having no problem finding drivers, but the majority are garbage.

I can vouch for what they say about them having many drivers with 10 or more years in company. I've met several. I've met a few with 20, and 2 with 30. I do wish I would've found them back when I first started trucking. And if my goals were to retire a company driver, I'd likely be there now. Webber is a very fair company, imo; and their home time policy is great.

 

How’s it going? I recently was checking them out. I’m from El Paso and saw nothing new here since april of 2018. So was wondering how they might be now. The recruiter seemed nice over the phone but that’s how any is to get you in the door. I understand there will always be give and take with any company. They have a great home time policy that helps me out since I got a 4 year old and just had another recently. So anything new on them? Options between OTR and/or regional? Pay? Miles?

 

I'd go back with them if I were in El Paso. However, some things, I'm told, have soured my view of them since I drove for them last. They use Penske for repairs. At first things took forever for my friend to get his truck or trailer fixed. Now, things have picked up, and started flowing smoothly again. I'm not crazy about their decision-making. I suspect that could be because Alan is no longer president. Some of their trailers are very old, and the hydraulic jacks are in need of repair. Holes in floors, ceilings, etc. But seeing as they're a mostly specialized outfit (water heaters), super spiffy trailers aren't necessarily warranted.

 

Ok I see, any idea how their trainer program works?

 

No, sorry. I believe it's just like most other companies. They liked (at least when I trained with them) to get me out there until it was deemed that I could go on my own. I felt pushed out of the trainer truck a little... but it all worked out. I had previous experience, and it was all flooding back into my braincells.

 

Aww man, I got about 28 months. They still make you go with a trainer?

 

Webber is a bunch of bottom feeder's. Very disorganized and like lying.

 

I tried them out last year after years of waiting to have the experience and employment history under my belt to "qualify".

First thing that chaffed was expecting OTR and getting regional out of Kankakee, IL to Michigan and back to Kankakee. Driving I-94/I-90 corridor during rush hour is not my idea of OTR.

Second thing is that they boast about late model tractors, however I got a late model Pete that reaked of urine. I found this awful smell upon being assigned the tractor out the gate. When I went in to the office to tell them, neither the ops manager nor the recruiter gave two craps about it and said they didn't have any other tractors.

While working regional out of their Kankakee office, the dormitory and trucker lounge is upstairs. A driver has to lug his belongings past the dispatch cubicles, reception desk, executive offices and everyone else just to get there. This felt like a walk of shame in some respects.

Third thing is that their repair shop in Kankakee is horrendous. I had an issue with a turn signal and next thing I know, I was stuck there for 3 days while they took apart the entire front end and rewired all the electrical, only to have the brights not working after that.

Their excuse about regional instead of OTR- they were renegotiating with their main customer at the time. Only senior drivers were getting the long hauls and everyone else had to wait, weeks, months, who knows, for OTR work.

When I told the driver supervisor that I did not sign up for that and I wanted to be brought back home on the next trip, which I was due to come home anyway, he told me to clear my truck out and I would have to pay for a Greyhound bus back.

The Ops manager got involved after that and said of course they would get me a load back home.

I would not recommend this company.

 

Yeah man, as stated "bunch of bottom feeder's" that need to be highly avoided!
