We've all seen them.
Pete's and KWs with 12in stacks...
Is there ANY advantage to this or is it purely a cosmetic thing?
My #### heat shields on my 18 w9 keep moving and contacting the cab. I've had 2 dealers attempt to lock it in place.
So if I wanted to just put new stacks and no shield on what would it do?
Does the larger pipe disperse heat better?
I dont care about sound, and I know it wont do anything for performance.
Bigger exhaust stacks? Why..

They are mainly their to see how much weight the cab can stand before they tear loose.lol
D.Tibbitt, rabbiporkchop, speedyk and 9 others Thank this. -
They’re for rollin more coal! In today’s choked down engine environment I’m not sure that they would do much if anything but look cool.
-
Pure poppycock. It's a "my stack is bigger than your stack" thing.
-
I doubt big stacks would give any real sound to an scr engine.
Unless it was thrown away than straight piped?
I can wish.blade and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
RollinThunderVet and Bean Jr. Thank this.

Think about it, One 5 inch pipe leaving the turbo, split to two 5 inch pipes that can handle twice as much as can get to them. lol
I read a study years ago that if you have mufflers the engine needs twin stacks to breathe, straight stack would breath fine with a single stack. I take no chances, so I have twin straights on my truck. lol
My international though is a muffled single stack kind of deal, them detroits don't need no two stacks. lol
I do like the looks of 6 in pipes, or even 7 in tips on some trucks, I don't like the looks of 8 in pipes, but that is just my preference. -
THEY . . . LOOK. . . . AWESOME.
There. Wasn't so hard - was it? -
Personally I think anything over twin 6s looks like trash. Kinda like the f250s with a 12in tip that's only 18" long. It screams I have a 5ft shifter, and I always redline my harley after I start it, just to make sure its on.. -
Anyone ever use exhaust wrap on semis?
