I've got a question if anybody has a TN annual permit.
TN law states that any trailer that is over 50’ from kingpin to rear of trailer, is overlength. Our Talbert lowboy is 51’ from kingpin to rear. I was trying to order a annual permit online and your only permit options are 75’ overall and 95’ overall, 75’ being legal and not needing a permit (according to the permit form).
My setup is 75’ overall, so do I need a overlength permit or not? According to the permit application I don’t, but according to TN regulations it do. Or is it that when you are running permitted that the kingpin law doesn’t apply? I’ve called the permit office and the lady I spoke to was no help.

They way I understand it from the Knoxville scale house. You need the over length permit. I didn’t buy an annual this year. I did last year and got it for length too.

    Oxbow and cke Thank this.

$200 I believe, and as I understand, you need it for the trailer.

Can't you just get the 95 overall and that will cover you up to 95?. As long as you have that anual your covered on the kingpin rule. Just remember you still will have to run your flags and signs empty to be covered. I quit being the anual when they increased the price to $3400. So i really don't know how they have changed the rules on an anual.

Like one will tell you an electronic copy of permit is good, and the other says paper.
